The Breakfast Menu #
At "But What About Second Breakfast" this year there is a new spin - The Breakfast Menu. A list of upgrades that all players have access to. You may pick a maximum of 5 items from the menu, with no model being given more than one item from the breakfast menu, their eyes are not bigger than their bellies.
So what's on offer?
The Breakfast Menu - the full list of available options. What would you be taking?
The list contains a lot of options, it risks opening up some new, undiscovered meta, and will no doubt result in a chaotic day of wargaming in Winchester.
This year, Second Breakfast will be hosted through Siege Ladder. You can view all the details of the events, including built-in analytics of the lists, photos from the games, the hobby awards and more here.
Yesterday, the lists were announced, so let's dive into what everyone came up with.
List Breakdowns #
Siege Ladder automatically provides analytics for all lists submitted to an event, and quickly we can see that we have a clear favourite - Lurtz's Scouts. Already very popular at the smaller sized tournaments, in this 500 point event, Lurtz also now has access to a collection of buffs that could make him incredibly difficult to face.

Looking into detail on the lists, we can see the following selections:
- Billy has chosen to provide Lurtz with "Give Peas a Chance", upgrading the Uruk to Fight 7
- Jordan Riley has opted for "Big Breakfast", meaning that when Lurtz charges over half his move distance, he gains the "Knock to the Ground" special rule, which, with those free Heroic Combats could be absolutely lethal.
- Tom chose "Breakfast of Champions", upgrading Lurtz to a brutal Strength 6.
- Then finally, perhaps scariest of them all, Charles Nurser has chosen to mount Lurtz on a White Warg.
My personal choice was Halls of Thranduil, upgrading Thranduil himself to Fight 8, and equipping a Mirkwood Warrior with a Banner. Whichever way you look at it, tomorrow is certainly going to be a new experience for all involved.
You get a White Warg! You get a Shadowfax! Everyone gets a Mount! #

Perhaps my favourite list this year goes to Zac Sherlock, who has created a custom Durin on Shadowfax just for this event. The Fight 7, Strength 4 and Defence 9 hero, coming in on the charge with 4 Attacks on the charge and knock down is likely to cause a lot of headaches.
He's not alone in the move to mount a hefty hero on the Chieftan of the Mearas, we'll also find Shadowfax galloping across the board with Jacob White, who has opted for a mounted Elendil, and Matt Freemantle who is mounted a Wraith Helm Hammerhand on top of Shadowfax too.
Two powerhouses in Elendil and Helm Hammerhand, both mounting a Shadowfax, in their respective lists.
Then, to counter the presence of Shadowfax, we'll find four White Wargs on the day too:
- We've already covered that Charles Nurser has opted to give Lurtz a White Warg.
- Dylan Dybell has opted to mount the mighty Witch King of Angmar on the White Warg
- Chris Bunce mounts Bolg with it in his Army of Gundabad
- Jack Fisher then went for a slightly different approach by not providing his main hero with the White Warg, but instead, giving it to Nazthak, who no doubt will have great fun running around the board and stealing enemy hero's items.
What Menu? #
Scouring through the lists, we'll also find plenty of players that chose not to opt-in to the chaos, tactical choice, or just not bothered by the overwhelming options available? We shall see in the final standings!

Stand-out lists here include:
- Ben Jeffery who, despite the fact you can't have a model costing over 250 points, still chose to go with the Depths of Moria, but spam a total of 56 goblins on the board.
- Mat (Bristle Branch) is fielding his beautiful Corsair Army (pictured above)
- H Crocker is going for a traditional Shadows of Angmar list, with Gully leading 2 x Barrow Wights, 2 x Werewolves and a horde of Angmar Orc Warriors.
- Adam Farmer who has Glorfindel leading the line in his Rivendell list.
How will the chaos unfold? #
You can see the full collection of lists here on Siege Ladder, and keep an eye out for photos and battle reports as they're uploaded throughout the day.
Which lists stand out to you? What would you have opted for if you were playing? Were there any golden combinations missed?
I'll be sure to report back afterwards with an insight into the day!
